Education

I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology followed by a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado. I then proceeded to graduate with a Ph.D. from an APA-accredited program in Clinical Psychology from The Ohio State University in 2007.

Professional Experience

I completed my APA-accredited, doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at Aurora Mental Health Center in Colorado. During my internship I had the privilege of working with a multidisciplinary treatment team in providing outpatient services to clients of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, suffering from disorders involving mood, anxiety, psychosis, and personality.

My postdoctoral residency was at Deer Oaks Mental Health Associates in Dallas, Texas. I provided outpatient individual therapy, family therapy, and couples counseling through the Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Program. I also conducted individual therapy in various nursing home facilities with older adult clients suffering from depression, anxiety, and dementia.

After my postdoctoral residency, I worked as a licensed psychologist with Senior PsychCare in Dallas, Texas. I gained experience conducting neurobehavioral evaluations for patients and wrote interpretations of cognitive tests done on patients with dementia. In addition, I provided individual therapy for nursing home residents and family therapy for residents and their relatives.

I also worked as an assistant professor at Argosy University. I taught psychology courses for undergraduate and doctoral students; served on several students' research project committees and on the university's Institutional Review Board (IRB) committee, which oversees ethical review of proposed research.
